Baccarat Rules Basics
First, the BANKER and PLAYER are dealt one card each.
You can bet on the BANKER or PLAYER (it's your choice), or a tie. If the hand you
bet on wins (BANKER or PLAYER), you get a 1 to 1 payout. For example, if you bet $10 on the BANKER hand and the BANKER wins, then you win your $10 bet plus another $10. If you place your bet
on a tie, you get an 8 to 1 payout. Baccarat Hands
The hand (BANKER or PLAYER) closest to 9 wins. Tens
and face cards (except the ace) count as zero. The ace counts as
one, and cards 2 through 9 are worth face value. When the total
of 2 cards are 2 digits, then the 1st digit is excluded from the
calculation. For example, if a 7 and 8 card are dealt, the total
is 15, but the 1st digit is dropped, so it counts as 5. If the first
two cards achieve a count of 8 or 9 it is called a NATURAL, wins automatically (except for a tie)
If neither initial hand is a NATURAL, then additional
cards are dealt to determine the winner.
Baccarat Strategy There is supposed be slightly higher chance that the BANKER will win over the PLAYER, but the mathematical chance of the BANKER winning over the PLAYER is very marginal (Less than a percent). Betting on a tie offers great returns (8 to 1) but is very risky. The chance of a tie is about once in every 10 games played. |
